Job Description

The Dining Services Assistant is responsible for serving meals to residents, preparing and cleaning in the dining rooms and kitchens of each home following schedules established by the Dining Services department. This is done in accordance with the company's philosophy, objectives, procedures and standards.


Functions and responsibilities


  • Maintain food and supply inventories in service kitchens according to inventory guide.


  • Prepare tables for meals in home dining rooms, including adaptive feeding equipment.


  • Transport prepared foods from the main kitchen, take and record temperatures of foods, refrigerators and freezers, and prepare steam tables for food service.


  • Assist residents with all meals by washing hands, serving food, and passing salads and drinks as needed.


  • Clean tables, wash dirty dishes, sweep and mop dining rooms and service kitchens in each home after meals.


  • Wash, transfer, and properly store serving utensils, plates, cutlery, and glassware after each meal.


  • Maintain service areas to meet sanitation and safety standards.


  • Transport dirty pans to the main kitchen after meal service.


  • Maintain home service kitchens to meet sanitation and safety standards.


  • Inform the Director of Dining Services about necessary equipment and supplies, as well as changes or concerns in individual resident conditions.

Requirements


  • Preferably 1 year of food service experience with knowledge of modified and therapeutic diets.

  • Empathy and ability to treat confused residents in a positive manner.

  • Ability to relate positively with colleagues.

  • Ability to stand and work for extended periods.

  • Ability to perform proper body mechanics to transport full carts and carry food trays and plates.

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

  • Ability to work in a fluctuating temperature environment.

  • You must be able to read, write and speak English in a comprehensible manner.
