Job Description

Adheres to performance standards established for this position. Practices within the scope established by the ND State of Respiratory Care and/or the ND State Board of Nursing in accordance with physician orders and established policies/procedures. This position supports the mission, vision and core values of CommonSpirit Health.


  • Provides patient care in an effective, attentive and respectful manner, using the respiratory and nursing process. process.


  • Interviews, examines, and evaluates patients with suspected or confirmed respiratory or cardiopulmonary disorders or symptoms.


  • Consults with physicians to develop patient treatment plans.


  • Perform diagnostic tests.


  • Administers therapeutic treatments based on patient needs and physician orders.


  • Monitors and records the patient's response to treatment.


  • Assists in the onboarding, training and competency of new respiratory technicians or new employees in the respiratory care department when qualifications permit.


  • Teaches patients to continue their therapy at home when appropriate.


  • Communicates the effectiveness of the therapy and the patient's tolerance.

Requirements


  • Excellent organization and prioritization skills

  • Ability to work alone.

  • Able to meet the physical and emotional demands of the position.

  • Ability to complete cardiopulmonary diagnosis and therapy as prescribed.

  • Mastery of computers and computer applications used in the healthcare environment.

  • Ability to communicate in spoken and written English.
