Job Description

The Heavy Equipment Operator position requires the operation of one or more types of heavy equipment, such as bobcat, dozer, front end loader, motor grader, scraper, skidsteer and other pieces of equipment used in the construction of highways, parking lots, city streets or roads. The operator is responsible for maintaining equipment in efficient condition and is expected to perform minor maintenance. Receives instructions from the foreman and assists with site preparation if necessary.

Duties and Responsibilities.
-Operate heavy equipment in a safe and effective manner to minimize the risk of injury, property damage or loss of life.
-Follow company and OSHA/MSHA safety procedures. Communicate concerns to foreman, superintendent or safety director.
-Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refer defects or needed repairs to supervisor; clean equipment.
-Follow daily procedures and protocols established in job orientation and training.
-Relate with co-workers and the public in a courteous and respectful manner.
-Assist when and where needed, including the operation of other equipment and other manual labor.


-To be a Puerto Rican citizen.
-Ability to read, write and speak English and perform simple mathematical calculations.
-Ability to drive and operate equipment under varying working conditions and ability to perform manual labor requiring periods of intense physical exertion and potential exposure to adverse weather conditions.
-Ability to learn, understand and carry out written and oral instructions and comply with company policies and safety regulations.
-Ability to work well with others in a team environment and willingness to learn and receive instructions.
-Ability and willingness to travel for extended periods of time and work long hours to perform job duties.
-Possess or have the ability to obtain a valid driver's license.
