Provides and performs cardiopulmonary diagnostic testing and therapeutic treatment for patients of all ages with cardiopulmonary diseases. May provide and perform diagnostic testing for EEG/sleep studies. Adheres to established performance standards for this position. Practices within the scope established by the ND State of Respiratory Care and/or ND State Board of Nursing in accordance with physician orders and established policies/procedures. This position supports the mission, vision and core values of CommonSpirit Health.

Job Description

1. Provides patient care in an effective, attentive and respectful manner, utilizing the respiratory and nursing process.
2. Interviews, examines, and evaluates patients with suspected or confirmed respiratory or cardiopulmonary disorders or symptoms.

3. Consults with physicians to develop patient treatment plans.
4. Performs diagnostic tests.
5. Administers therapeutic treatments according to patient needs and physician orders.
6. Monitors and records patient response to treatment.
7. Assists in the onboarding, training and competencies of new respiratory technicians or new employees in
respiratory care department when qualifications permit.
8. Teaches patients to continue therapy at home when appropriate.
9. Communicates effectiveness of therapy and patient tolerance.


-Be a Puerto Rican citizen.
-Excellent organizational and prioritization skills
-Ability to work alone.
-Able to meet the physical and emotional demands of the position.
-Ability to complete cardiopulmonary diagnosis and therapy as prescribed.
-Mastery of computers and computer applications used in the healthcare environment.
-Ability to communicate in spoken and written English.
